Social Media Marketing Do’s and Don’ts (part 6)
Well, we have nearly reached the end of this 7 part series. Remember, these tips are not intended to be law. The purpose is to lay the groundwork and establish a foundation for your social media marketing efforts. You are more than likely already practicing most of these tips. However, review them and determine which areas may need to be addressed and work on those. Keep them all in mind if you’re new to social media marketing. Okay, so what have we covered so far?
- Build a Strong and Effective Social Network
- Don’t Spam
- Establish Trust and Credibility
- Remember Your Social Profiles
- Listen
- Don’t Ditch SEO
- Think Before You Speak
- Don’t be Dull
- Stick to Your Brand
- Don’t be Unpredictable
Those are 10 impressive tips if I do say so myself. In order to be successful though you should constantly analyze your practices and determine what is working and what is not. This takes us to our next tip.
11. Remember Your Stats
Stats are awesome. They are what point us in the direction of success. I hate to burst your bubble but you’re not going develop the perfect marketing strategy from the very beginning. You will find that some things work and some don’t. How do we know what is working and what isn’t? Statistics. Review your traffic statistics and your marketing path will be revealed. And remember, it is perfectly okay to try new methods. Be creative.
12. Avoid the Urge to Sell
Are you familiar with the phrase “there is a time and place for everything”? Social networks are not the place to sell your products or services. You should utilize social networks to drive people to your website or blog. It is here where you should promote and attempt to sell your products or services. This next statement may sound like it is contradicting everything I just said, but it’s not. Read it carefully.
You are always selling your products or services. It’s not a contradiction to “never sell your products or services through social media”, I promise. Let me explain.
Your attitude, speech, demeanor, style, and everything else are a part of a sales pitch. Everything you do leaves an impression with your current and potential customers. Therefore, you should leave a positive impression. The key is to market you without literally marketing you. Entice people to want to know more but don’t tell them “hey, you need to buy my stuff”. Do you get what I’m saying? If not, contact us and we’ll get into it further.
Tomorrow we will conclude this series.
