Well, we have reached the end of a wonderful journey. Today we conclude our 7 part series of Social Media Marketing Do’s and Don’ts. It has been a fun ride and we’ve covered a lot of material. All good things must come to an end right? In previous articles we have provide a summary of what has been covered so far before addressing the next tips. We’re going to save the summary for the end today. So, without further ado, let’s get started.
13. Don’t Social Climb
Social climbing is a no-no. A social climber is a wannabe…a person who attempts to force themselves into an esteemed group by only participating in activities that particular group is a part of. Let’s use Twitter as an example. You only follow other Twitter users that have a lot of followers and have a well-established social media presence. This is a big mistake. You are missing out on a ton of opportunities by doing this.
Remember the little people, so to speak. Don’t be mistaken in thinking that rubbing elbows with the big dogs is going to provide you with success. In many cases, you will actually be overlooked by doing this. I’m not saying not to follow, or network, with these people. Just don’t forget that the point of social media is to network. So, network with everyone.
14. Be Persistent
The last tip is to be persistent. Marketing can be tough, especially if you’re products or services are in an already saturated industry. It’s not easy to build a brand from start to finish, but it can be done, and you can most definitely do it. Don’t be discouraged if the results are not what you want them to be in the first week, month, or even months. It takes time to find the right groove and determine what will work for you. Success takes work. There is no magic formula and this is not a get-rich scheme. Be persistent and you will achieve success.
