Google Buzz: What It Means for Twitter and Facebook

Google supporters have wondered why Google has not launched their own social media application (i.e. Twitter, Facebook). Well Google supporters, the wait is over. I present to you Google Buzz! Don’t blow up any balloons and pull out the finger foods just yet. Google Buzz is limited. It comes packaged with minimal integration with Twitter and virtually no integration with Facebook. On top of that, it seems it will only be available to those who currently have a Gmail account. Google Buzz is doomed if it doesn’t play nicely with the two social media kings, Twitter and Facebook!

I agree with you Carlo. I know everyone has their own opinion, but I would've preferred Google Buzz be housed outside of Gmail...like Docs, Reader, etc. There's way too much going on in my Gmail account now. It needs some heavy duty interface work.
  • Personally I think that Google Buzz's submission was a little too early, especially the privacy concerns. I also think that Google is going down the path that Windows experienced around the time of Windows ME. The past few products and products appear to be less planned and I also feel that rushed in an attempt to be 1st to market, and compete with its competitors releases. The breach of privacy was an issue that did not require a PHD in CS to figure out, a very basic QA session would have shown these issues. Do you think Google may have received too much credit last year?

I'm glad you're excited about it whirtwhirl. I am not as enthusiastic since it is not fully integrated with Twitter and Facebook. Not everyone I need to communicate with uses Gmail. I am a Google supporter though so I hope they provide some updated features and functionality.
  • Finally, an easy way to share links and photos with my close gtalk friends without having to have 10 chat windows open. I think this is break through for Google.
